Songs of Hope is a place for all mothers to find helpful, informative
content specific to maternal mental health.
This space holds the tender stories of women who have
battled postpartum health challenges.
Songs of Hope seeks to offer content that not only validates
your pain but also points you towards healing and encourages you onward.
Please note: This online space is not a substitute for proper medical care
but rather a provider of hope and encouragement in your healing journey.
In the summer of 2018, I found myself online looking for answers to the extreme anxiety I had been fighting. Prior to this particular day in July I was so scared of reading something online that might trigger more fearful thoughts that I had stayed as far away from a search bar as possible. As my shaky fingers typed in my symptoms, I began to find other women in online forums sharing their stories and mourning the loss (or so it seemed) of the good minds they’d always known in motherhood. Suddenly I felt hope renewed, though it would still be months before I received the proper care that my illness required. God, in His kindness, used those stories of other mothers in the depths to give me comfort, to show me I wasn’t alone in my perceived brokenness.
As I began to understand the nature of my postpartum mental illness (PPOCD) I knew that one day I needed to create a place for others to find support online as they courageously begin to seek answers. So beautiful friend, welcome to Songs of Hope, a space where other mothers like you are using their gift of communicating through the written word to let you know they get it and understand your pain. Songs of Hope is a place that I pray you feel seen and less alone, where you can come back again and again to find biblical wisdom and truth to carry you forward in your healing journey. Invite a friend. Stay as long as you like. You are on the right path, even if you don’t feel like yourself right now. This too shall pass.
The clouds are going to start to open and the sun will shine through again!
